16) Oracle And Tarot Cards Are More Than A Compass

Guest Blog Post Article Written And Narrated By

Raven Magill

https://ravenmagill.com/

I’ve read the cards for people struggling with almost every scenario under the sun. Love, health, spirituality, friendships - some clients were trying to figure out how to approach their college careers, others wanted to be sure that their children were doing well.

When people turn to a tarot reader, they’re often looking for an arrow that will point them in the right direction. Mistakenly, people think that their arrow is going to be about ten feet high, with flashing neon lights, and maybe even a choir of angels singing around it for good measure.

But experience rarely bears this out.

I find this to be the case because Tarot is a tool that’s so much more valuable when you step back from looking for the signposts and see that the cards can also be a map.

Think of it like this: When we ask the cards which way to go (which job to take, which person to ask out, which vacation to book), we essentially make our decision based on which paths appear to be marked favorably. And we limit the scope of what’s possible.

Step back. Look at the wider picture. There are more paths than just the two or three that we’ve noticed. This is what I mean when I say that the Tarot is also a map.

If we ask the right questions, we can get a picture of the entirety of our environments. To extend the metaphor…we can see where the trees thin out, where there are rivers for us to fill our canteens at, and where a bear’s den might be hidden.

What are the “right” questions, then? I’ll give you an example. Let’s say we’re looking for guidance in a relationship.

If we want to be pointed in a favorable direction, we might ask:

- Does staying in this relationship serve my greatest and highest good?

If the cards seem to indicate that yes, it’s a good relationship, we’ll probably stay. If they indicate that the relationship isn’t serving our greatest and highest good, well, then, time to get back in the dating pool!

But if we want to use the cards as more than a compass, we could ask the following questions:

- What lesson am I learning in this relationship?

- What role do I play for this person?

- What role do they play for me?

- How can I bring more positivity to this relationship?

In essence, we seek to see the wider landscape and make our own decisions based off of this broader perspective. When we ask more questions - peripheral questions - we can fill in the blanks and often reveal paths that we would’ve otherwise missed!

And did you know, Tarot and Oracle cards can also be like a fellow traveler? Reminding you when it would be a good time to rest and make camp, or to look out for that rock there, don’t trip! As we move forward on our paths we can check in with the cards and ask questions like:

- If I want to succeed, where should my focus be?

- What is distracting me?

- What have I been neglecting in my life?

Of course, many of the questions we might put to the cards are ones we already have the answer to. If we could wholly trust our own intuition, there wouldn’t be much work for tarot readers. The fact is, even if we trust our intuition, we like validation. We like to do our research. Tarot and Oracle cards are a brilliant tool when we use them towards that end.

And I believe that to get the absolute most that we can out of these beautiful tools, we should try and remember that the cards are more than just a compass.

15) Voodoo Hoodoo (Which One Do) You Do !?!

Voodoo &  Hoodoo are often confused and used interchangeably, however these two words that l@@k and sound very similar are both distinctly different, so what is the difference between Voodoo and Hoodoo?

The Origins Of Voodoo

Voodoo is a religion that originates from a small country in West Africa called Benin and spread to it's neighboring countries. In fact the actual word Voodoo means "spirit" - it is also known as Voudou which stems from Haiti and Voudon which stems from New Orleans. If you go far enough back in time - from centuries before the slave-o-caust - Voodoo originated from the worship of ancestors and animals.

Voodoo & The Slave Trade

Voodoo as we now know it today emanated as a result of the brutal slave trade during the 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. The indigenous men, women and children from Benin, Kongo and Nigeria were held captive and made to endure the harsh journey from West Africa to the West Indies and the Americas as well as Britain and her colonies, France and other European countries.

The Voodoo Underground

Although the American, British and French powers of yestercenturies tried to suppress and ban African slaves from practicing their own religions, Voodoo nevertheless survived by going underground, as the African peoples bound by slavery had no other choice but to worship their Gods, Deities and Lowa (Spirits) in secret. It is perhaps because Voodoo had to be practiced in this covert way, that this religion today is often misunderstood and misrepresented as a negative belief system.

Saints & Slaves

Due to the African slave peoples exposure to Christianity through their European, American, British and French slave masters and the fact that Christianity and Catholicism was imposed on the slave peoples, gradually Voodoo also began to incorporate Catholic saints in to their practice of Voodoo. Though this may have originally been a clever way for the African slave peoples to have continued to covertly worship the Lwas - also known as spirits - so when they would have referred to St Patrick, they would have truly been talking about Dumballah - a snake spirit.

The Voodoo Trance Dance

During the worship of Lwas, the African slave peoples would incorporate dance with their religious rituals and would often move in a way that to onlookers would appear to be convulsions, or a trance, however the Voodoo dancers believed they were overtaken by a spirit or entities during such an occurrence. In Haiti Voodoo trance dances are still a prominent part of the Voodoo religion even today!

African Slave Rebels With A Cause

Between the late 18th to early 19th centuries, the African slaves bravely rose up and rebelled against their French slave masters and as a consequence drove them far from Haiti, in fact many of the French fled and took the African slaves with them to New Orleans and in turn the African slave people brought with them, their religion of Voodoo to America ...

The Root Of All Hoodoo

So from a historical perspective, it can be surmised that Hoodoo is an offshoot from the Voodoo religion, however there is a quantifiable difference between Voodoo and Hoodoo ...

From the 19th century the African American population began to grow and the knowledge of Voodoo and other African traditions and religions were passed down from one African American generation to the next. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, African Americans oftentimes couldn't afford to see a doctor if they were ill and so they became their own and each others physicians. "Heal thyself" they did and "heal thy neighbour" they did too, hence healing potions were concocted, from roots also known as herbs and other botanics and this is where the word "root-work" and "root-worker" are derived from. However the belief in the power of healing also had a religious element hence these early African American medicines were called "Hoodoo", the "h" being the first letter from the word healing and the "oodoo" was taken from the word Hoodoo.

Spells To Quell Trouble Or Make Your Good Luck Double

Spell work to bring good fortune is also a very important element in the practice of Hoodoo, so among other things, practitioners commonly use botanical roots, candles, charms, poppet dolls and divination as part of their tradition. Mojo bags, which are small cloth bags often made from silk that have wrapped inside them herbs and prayers etc - and that are believed to have magickal properties, are also used.

The Bible and particularly contained therein, the Book of Psalms is also used in Hoodoo-craft as a method of protection or to ward off bad spirits. In Hoodoo the Bible is also used to divine from, the Hoodoo-ist (to coin a phrase) will open the Bible @ random and throw a charm or skeleton key on the page and the verse upon which it lands has an important message for the inquirer.

Same Sound, Different Meanings

So in a raw (Benin yummy cashew) nutshell, the difference between Voodoo and Hoodoo is that the former is a recoginised religion that reveres and worships ancestors and spirits - and originated from West Africa way before the slave trade - and is still practiced there today, while the later is a magickal belief system which originates in America, particularly New Orleans and is used in a practical way to affect and assist a particular outcome.

Voodoo, Hoodoo, You Do

So do you feel more drawn to Voodoo or Hoodoo? Perhaps Voodoo is the religion you follow and practice, or maybe you do Hoodoo and make poppet dolls, mojo bags and perform candle magick and other rituals! Of course you don't have to choose @ all, you can subscribe to the Voodoo religion while also practicing Hoodoo too, after all it's up to you what you do and whether or not you do Voodoo, Hoodoo or both, just be you !

14) How To Super Charge The Law Of Attraction

Wanna know how to use the law of attraction !?! well as the saying goes like attracts like and indeed it certainly does otherwise how else did you land on this page and get to this website !?! You got here because you want to know how to attract the things to yourself that you would like to happen in your life; however did you know that you can actually supercharge the law of attraction.

You probably already know that the law of attraction is a type of master key that unlocks your potential to be or have any thing your  desires, as long as your thoughts are in alignment with the very circumstance or wish that you want to materialize in your life ...

However when learning how to use the law of attraction it isn't enough to bring yourself to a place of simply wanting something and focusing on it. Many people find out about this natural metaphysical force and then spend much time concentrating on their desired outcome and then become frustrated when after several or even 6 months or more, their said desire has yet to transmute in to the physical fourth dimension.

Super Duper Charge Your law Of Attraction Battery

Yes it does obviously help to stay focused on your ultimate goal when utilising this ancient law which has been in existence since the inception of time and beyond but to supercharge the law of attraction and learn how to draw forth from this universal wishing well you need to harness the power of joyful feeling ...

If you're unemployed or have a jay-oh-be that leaves you feeling dis-satisfied and unfulfilled (perhaps unfortunately you even dread going to work) you may have been trying to use your wish for a dream job, coupled with your intense concentration to bring it about - and yet feel deflated and disappointed because you're still in a nine to five you can't stand and you've only had a handful of job interviews, but to no positive avail AKA you didn't get the job ...

Perhaps you're single but truly madly deeply desire to attract your ideal partner - a man or woman - who ticks most of the boxes on your cosmic ordering wish list but you still have only managed to attract potential partners that you know would not be a very good match for you ...

Exercise Your Inner Fairy

Fret not, wipe those fear tears from your beautiful eyes, the feel good joyful fairy is here and she - or he - is going to help you to truly learn how to use the law of attraction. Well where is she? you ask, l@@king around. Well honey bunny sweet sugar pie, you have to l@@k within - because she or he is there within the well springs of your heart, soul, spirit and super subconscious, just let her or him out, give her or him permission to sprinkle that magic dust of  joyful hOpe and optimism and you will begin to naturally supercharge the law of attraction !!!

Yes, when you have a burning ambition or goal in mind, to get to the finishing line, to burst through the winners tape, it's vital that you add the power of joyful and excited feelings to your efforts of daily visualisation and focus. When you concentrate on that amazing job that is already hovering in the ether waiting for you to claim it, you have to feel it with joy, vigor and excitement, when you can physically feel yourself tingling in expectant anticipation of that oh so fabulous job it will soon easily find it's way to you ...

The Bus Of Wishes Will Arrive !

When it comes to the law of attraction, I like to use the "waiting for a bus" analogy, when you're @ a bus stop waiting for a bus to arrive, you don't just believe it will arrive, you expect it to arrive, this is how you need to tap in to the eternal law of attraction, now I know we don't necessarily feel joy @ the prospect of the bus arriving but we do expect it to arrive.

Bearing the bus metaphor in mind, try your very best to joyfully and excitedly expect the new job. In your minds eye, conjure up a cartoon or even 3D avatar of yourself and dress your mini me fairy avatar in the best fairy garb you can, wear your favourite colour or colours, if you like the Gothic look, then make your inner avatar a gorgeous Gothic fairy, if you like pink and sparkly, then so shall she - or he - be ... and so on and so forth ...

Now you're inner fairy avatar mini me, mini you, lol, is waiting @ a bus stop. Go on, super impose her or him @ a bus stop that you use or see often. Your inner joyful fairy of feeling avatar is waiting @ the bus stop and she l@@ks brimming with and is beaming with expectant excitement. She knows the bus is going to arrive - now it's a little late but your inner fairy of joy doesn't check the time on her mobile / cell phone because she knows the bus is going to arrive ... when the bus arrives it has an advert on the side of it, it says something like "Destination Dream Job" you're joyful inner feeling fairy avatar excitedly gets on the bus and you watch the bus drive off until you can no longer see it ...

A Fabulous Fairytastic Tool

To increase the probability of quickly manifesting your hOpes and dreams in your life, you can use this powerful, fun and magical joyful utilisation exercise to supercharge the law of attraction once a day or even more times, just make sure that you're in a great feeling place of joy and excitement when you do it !!!

You can use this method for all manner of hOpes and desires. For instance if you have your heart set on mr or mrs right, then the bus can say "Destination Dream Soulmate" or "Destination Mr Right" or lets say you want to find your dream house the advert on the side of the bus can say "Destination Dream House" and you can also imagine a picture or photo of your dream house alongside the caption on the bus. The different desires you can imagine are endless because your imagination and desires are inexhaustible ...

7) Benefits And Zenefits Of Zen Meditation

ZEN is a prominent far eastern philosophy and there are many benefits of Zen meditation but  before we get to that, here's a little about the emergence of this well known practice brought in the sixth century to China and the wOrld by Bodhidharma an Indian monk. However the roots of Zen originally stem from two other schools of thought. Firstly the age old Chinese philosophy of Taoism which is based on living harmoniously with the natural ebbs and flows of the cosmos - and secondly Buddhism which is a belief system based on the teachings of the Buddha, among his core teachings are concepts such as -

i) The existence of suffering

ii) Attachments to outcomes cause suffering

iii) When attachments & desires are set free, so are you

Learning To Let Go ...

Unlike Buddhism, Zen believes that to become immersed in religious knowledge or to concentrate on theoretical applications of belief systems, even including Buddhism and Taoism is to waste ones precious thought forces ...

Instead Zen, which is also in part derived from Zazan which means "to sit" is a concept centered on letting go of past entanglements that may often ruminate and rumble in one's mind from time to time - or indeed even frequently - and so instead for ones peace of mind, bodily health and fortitude of soul and spirit, it is essential to stay "grounded" in the here and now and to be kind to yourself by letting go of self criticism, regret and judgement; of course it's also vital to extend this to all people, situations and circumstances.

Thankfulness For BIG and small

Zen Buddhism and Zen meditation also makes it clear that we must learn to appreciate even the smallest things in life, that we once would have shrugged off and overl@@ked ! For instance remembering to be just as grateful for a drop of rain as a walk along the seashore, a blade of grass as much as a field of flowers and a penny as much as a million pounds !!!

The Paradox Of Trying To Clear Your Mind!

Zen emphasizes that it's not enough to attempt to clear your mind of all distractions and thought during meditational practice - because ironically when we attempt to be free of thought we are still thinking. So instead Zazan and Zen teaches us to simply release our minds from thought without er ... thinking about it. Yes this is a bit of anomaly but through practice it is very possible to not become disturbed by thoughts of I must not think during mediation!

Relinquishing Control To Be More Spontaneous!

While as human beings we have a tendency to take up the reigns of control in our own lives and sometimes unwittingly in the lives of our nearest and dearest too, it's important to work in harmony with providence and the natural forces that shape and influence our lives, without feeling threatened, anxious and the need for a brown paper bag to breathe in to when life throws us a series of unexpected events ...

How To Do A Zazan Zen Zenficial Mediation A Day!

The actual physical practice of Zen meditation is nice and simple, you simply need to -

i) Sit - either on the ground or floor

(to make yourself more comfortable you can sit on a cushion)

ii) Cross your legs

(but make sure you're still comfortable, please don't contort your limbs!)

iii) Rest your hands on your lap

(both hands should be facing with your palms upwards, one hand inside the other)

iv) Close your eyes and clear you mind

(but try not to think about clearing your mind!)

v) Slooowly and calmly inhale and exhale

(let your inhalations be natural do not inhale for longer than seems comfortable)

vi) Continue to breathe slowly in and out in a controlled manner for 5, 10 or more minutes

(remember to breathe in a controlled way while freeing yourself of all control !!!)

Meditating Your Way Back To Mental & Physical Well Being!

It's quite easy to understand why there are many benefits of Zen meditation due to the relaxed nature of the tradition. Yes us human beings are blessed with the power of our own intellect but sometimes this can become a burden when we over think a circumstance or situation and ploy to plot and map our route so to speak. It can be such a relief to accept that we don't have all the answers and often times we just have to let life happen. Zen helps us to become free from  depression and apprehension in many of it's states and forms because when we think this way we no longer need those brown paper bags !

When we're no longer attached to a specific desire or outcome we don't tend to find ourselves laying awake @ night and during the wee early hours of the morning tossing and turning ... Insomnia - not always but often is related to a restless worrisome mind. The regular practical application of Zen tends to make us feel lighter within due to there being far less mental internal conflict. YOU become the master or mistress of your own mind, instead of vice versa !  Getting enough sleep helps ward off depression and other mind related ailments and disorders. Plus a good nights sleep enhances our immune systems and helps our bodies to regenerate fresh cells and when we're fresh on the inside we sparkle on the outside !

Mediating Your Way Back To A State Of Happiness!

When we start to practice Zazan and Zen in a way that is practical as opposed to theoretical, we begin to reap the benefits of Zen meditation not just mentally and physically but also emotionally. You see when we stop deriding and berating ourselves and reverting back to the past and the could have, should have, would have way of thinking - when we stop judging the actions, mistakes and mis-steps of others we enter a place of quiet inner acceptance and a peacefulness that gently radiates outwardly and even for all we know into the far reaches of the universe ...

5) Ten Top 10 Tarot Tips And Tricks

Music Zig Zag By Kevin Macleod

TEN terrific tarot tips and tricks here for your oracular delight and delectation are ten awesomely amazing, terrific tarot tips and tricks.

One tip it's all in the shuffle. Mixing the cards up so they are completely random, and that any previous reading doesn't influence the order of the cards. For the next reading, you can learn to riffle shuffle tarot cards by cutting the deck into two equal halves, then hold these halves in each hand. Place your thumbs at the top of the stack of cards and bend your middle fingers and put them along the opposite edge of each card stack. Move the stacks closer together, and then gently move your thumbs in an upward direction against the edges of each card stack. Now the cards should overlap one another as they are shuffled, and if at first you don't succeed, try, try and try again.

Two trick to attract love and romance to your life. Place the lovers card and the two of cups on your altar or mantelpiece. Or even on your bedside table. Place a red candle beside the lovers tarot card and a pink candle on the side of the Two of cups. Tarot card. Each evening, light the candles and spend five minutes thinking about love and sex and your ideal partner. Then blow out the candles and say thank you. Rinse and repeat until Mr. or Miss Right appears in your real three dimensional life.

Three tip get in the zone. This little piece of useful and heartfelt advice applies to tarot card readers and those who are getting a tarot reading equally. Make sure that you are in the right frame of mind before consulting the tarot for yourself or others seeking a tarot reading. You don't have to be jumping up and down for joy, but it's imperative that you are feeling balanced and energised. Then, as a professional tarot cards reader, you will be able to conduct an accurate tarot reading for your client. And in like manner, if you're the tarot client, chances are when you're in the zone, the tarot cards drawn in the reading will enlighten you!

Four trick to attract money to yourself. Get yourself a mini tarot card. Stick one of those mini tarot decks in a tin will be perfect for this. Also, get a purse or wallet which has at least five separate compartments, and put your £5 notes or $5 notes or whatever currency pertains to your corner of the world, and place the mini Ace of Pentacles card in your purse compartment with your fivers. This card will help you to attract new money making opportunities.

Then put the Four of Pentacles and any £10 or $10 notes, or any other currency notes in the denomination of ten, in a separate compartment in your purse. This card should help stop you from wasting your money, so that you only spend your money on important and worthwhile things.

Seven is a pretty lucky number, so seven it shall be. Find the Seven of Pentacles card and put this in another separate compartment of your purse or wallet. Now get a £20 or $20 note, or the currency particular to the country you live in, and put the note or notes in your purse or wallet so they are accompanied by the Seven of Pentacles. This card will help you attract good luck with business or job opportunities.

Next it's time to utilise the energy of the Nine of Pentacles by putting this card in your purse compartment for £50 or $50 notes or your particular currency. The Nine of Pentacles will help you draw all manner of money, opportunities, and abundance. If you don't have a £50 or $50 note, still put the Nine of Pentacles card inside your wallet or purse compartment, and on a small piece of paper, write £50 or $50 or whatever currency you're 50 money note will be, and place this piece of paper in your wallet or purse, along with the Nine of Pentacles, and then expect a £50 or $50 note to as if by magic, manifest and make its way to your purse.

Okay, so now it's time for the hundreds. If you have a $100 bill or whatever your national currency is, presuming that they use the 100 denomination, place this in a separate compartment within your purse or wallet, and also put the Ten of Pentacles card with it. This card can help attract such an abundant amount of money that you will be easily. Able to share it with family and friends. If you don't have a $100 bill, then you could even exchange your local currency for a US $100 bill and place this in your purse or wallet. Or instead you could write on a piece of paper the United States of America $100 and place this in the separate compartment, along with the Ten of Pentacles, and then be amazed when 100 American dollars magically comes to you.

Remember that whenever you take money out of your purse or wallet to pay for something, look at the said tarot card, also tucked away with the note or notes.

Five tip use a tarot deck you truly resonate with. After all, it's not much use turning to a deck for advice or insights into personal and emotional development or fortune telling. If you feel lacklustre about it and don't feel an affinity with the images or energy of the said tarot deck. The great thing about the internet age is that you can easily source images for various tarot card decks online, or find video reviews so you don't even have to try before you buy. And any tarot decks in your possession which you don't connect with, give away or swap.

Six trick. Get to know the energy of each tarot card. This can easily be done in two very practical ways. At the beginning of each day, shuffle your tarot cards while at the same time asking the universe or the tarot to show you what the energy of your day is going to be like, and then pluck a card from the deck and put this card on your mantelpiece. Or write the card name in your diary for the day's specific date. Then, at the end of the day, dwell on what happened throughout your day and compare the day's events with the meanings and or images for the particular tarot deck card you drew in the morning. You can also record the happenings of the day in your diary or journal, underneath the date and name of the card you pulled. Of course, you can also do this in reverse, and instead, at the end of the day, by shuffling the cards and then asking the question what sort of energy has my day had? And then pluck a card from your tarot deck. Then work out how your day connects and coincides with the tarot card you've just drawn.

Seven tip go to bed with your tarot deck. Yes, that's right, as odd as this first sounds, wrap your favourite deck of tarot cards in a silk scarf, or put the cards in a tarot bag or purse and then place them under your pillows at night. Pillows is much more preferable to just a single pillow, as even though you are a beautiful princess or prince of the universe, you don't want to be like the Princess and the pea. And instead of feeling a pea in your bed, feeling a stack of cards under your head, sleeping with your tarot deck underneath your pillows can help you form a closer bond with your deck, and it can even enhance the prospect of having the odd tarot related dream or two, or a few

Eight trick intuition instead of tuition, we can get so bogged down with learning all the various meanings and astrological aspects of the tarot cards that we sometimes forget to use our own satnav. Super amazing transformative navigation, also known as our own inner navigation system. So the next time you read the cards, why not go with the first word, idea or visual that comes to your mind, or any meanings that your dreams about tarot have given to you in the wee hours of the night. Ride the magic wave and go with the flow.

Nine tip read the images on the tarot cards. If you are conducting a reading for either a friend, yourself or even professionally, and for some reason your mind goes totally blank. Instead of trying to recall the textbook meanings for the cards, actually read the cards as though the illustrations and images are telling a story. What do you see when you look at each tarot card in the spread? What is happening? What is the person doing? What mood do the predominant colours of each card convey? What do the various symbols on the cards mean? And so on, ad infinitum.

Ten trick Tarot Moon Magic Imbue your tarot deck with out of this world energy by using the natural, intuitive power of the moon. On the night of the full moon, put your stack of tarot cards with the moon card facing upwards on the top of the deck and the star card next underneath it on a windowsill or even outside if your cards will stay dry and place a large crystal or gemstone on the top. If you have a crystal ball, you can arrange your tarot deck with the moon and star cards facing upwards so they are reflected in the crystal ball, with the rest of the tarot deck stacked alongside the crystal ball with a crystal or gemstone placed on top. This will add greater synergy to both your deck of cards, as well as your crystal ball for the next few weeks, until the full moon next appears. Your tarot cards and crystal ball and gemstones for that matter, will amaze you in all sorts of magical ways. You're bound to have some tarot tricks and tips of your own, but that's our top ten terrific tarot tips and tricks list. Hope you like it!
